Feminism and social media

From the title it’s easy to feel this is going to be a heavy post but hopefully it won’t be!? However I feel these topics fall into a category together or are related in someway.Feminism is something that I feel all women should be proud to be apart of,we still need in some areas of work equal pay to men and more respect from them too! In some parts of the world girls can’t even have a proper education,As well as this all girls and women need to come together, tackle these problems and not go against each other and calling each other things because of the way some us dress,we all want to be respected and I feel if we all come together and not settle for anything less than we deserve then we definitely are more than half way there to equality and treated right from everyone.Social media comes Into the equation as I feel society has fallen in into this circle of pressuring mainly women but also men whether it’s in body size, fashion and other materialistic ideas. However some people such as Jennifer Lawrence and Beyoncé have stood up against this and look great doing it and have bodies which I think are better than any size 0 model and are healthy body sizes! Again, size shouldn’t matter and we should all be a size which is healthy and happy and if you take anything through this year I hope it’s being happy, healthy and comfortable in your own size and taking a stand for what you believe in with dignity and strength and not just sitting back and watching things happen and pass by.

To spend or not to spend?

It may be the new year but for some of us we still have some extra money (unless you were consumed by the Boxing Day sales) either from your birthday,Christmas or other holidays around this time but some things are certain for everyone when buying things.I will start with some things which are very likely around this time.First of all its the “sorry madam,we do not have that size in stock” this is very likely when it comes to shoes as I’m a size 4/5 which is the same size as a lot of people apparently especially people who like what I like and go to the same shops as me! Whether it’s clothes or shoes it’s seems whenever you see something which you love in shops especially in sales they don’t have your size which if like me you have the problem of falling in love with a clothing item or a pair of shoes before you know if they have it in your size in stock and it turns out they don’t can be very devastating. (I’m sorry if this is to upsetting and advise you not to carry on reading if you’re already crying at this traumatic event) another thing that goes with sales which happened to me recently with a top I brought is buying something then a week later it’s in the sale for 50% off. There should be warning signs on these clothes saying ‘I will be in the sale next week so don’t buy me now’ but sadly there is no such thing, another tale which I think everyone had been through is the no money see everything problem and vice versa. This is my problem 99% of the time sadly and I feel I need to contact shops to make sure they put good things out when I have money and put all the horrible things out when I don’t! So if anyone can put me in touch with someone who can do this it would be much appreciated! The last thing which is something I’ve got quite paranoid about and is one of the reasons why I still have Christmas money left over (but not for along as I’m going internet shopping in a minute!) is seeing something after I’ve spent my money.Personally this has happened to me a lot and is something which is on my mind when buying things,I have to ask myself If I definitely want it and if it’s a no then back it goes.(then about 10 minutes later I go back and buy it) which if I do decide to I don’t bother looking in other shops unless I have enough money because that’s just torture which even the strongest couldn’t endure!

Lush and other stuff

Before I begin I just want to say I’m not a fashion/beauty blogger.I just thought I would share some things which I think are good and recommend them. The first products I’m recommending is some products from Lush.I know Lush is not everyone’s favourite as they do have quite over powering smells in some products and some people are allergic but hopefully I will recommend products suitable for all skin types as I’ve got quite sensitive skin myself. The first product is not for skin but for people with Curly/wavy hair called Curly Wurly. As someone who’s got curly hair which tends to go a bit frizzy I whole heartedly think this is a product worth buying. Its all natural (as a lot most lush products are) and contains coconut which leaves your hair soft as an animal with soft hair…the product contains ingredients to define your curls and it has defined mine and I now use it everyday:) my second product also from Lush is called Angels on bare skin which is a face and body cleanser.I personally have only used this on my face and think its great it’s does what it says on the pot and smells delicious and even has actual lavender in it.It comes as a block and you take as much as you need then add some water which softens it and then gently rub it on your face.My last product from Lush is a face mask (I could not do a beauty post and not throw in a face mask somewhere!) called Cosmetic warrior which contains garlic, tea tree and other ingredients which are natural antiseptics and it’s not meant to smell the best it’s meant to fight spots and troubled skin(it’s doesn’t smell that bad though).Im always weary about using face masks just because they normally give me more spots but after I used this my skin felt soft and glowed and the morning after I used it,ok…not all my spots are gone but I’ve definitely seen an improvement which is more than some face masks I’ve used! I’m also going to do My read of the month every month so January’s pick is a book from Rainbow Rowell’s called Eleanor and Park.:)

Wonders of music

What is good music taste? So many people are quick to judge peoples music taste which has become more apparent in the past couple of years.I know people have their vision of what good music taste is e.g The beatles,David Bowie etc. even though these are great musicians who are loved by millions of people around the world including myself they aren’t necessary everyone’s favourites.I personally love Dolly Parton and country music as well as The King,Mr.Elvis Presley (I was born in the wrong generation) however if I expressed this view with someone who loved The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix they would would say I have bad music taste.Personally I don’t think there is a thing as bad music taste.Music is there to make us feel emotions we find hard to express,as well as this music is meant to be something that can easily put you in a daydream when walking home in the rain and help you forget it’s freezing cold.People also relate songs to their personal experiences (so I guess if you’ve always wondered what does the fox say I hope you enjoy that song and one day find out)and there’s also songs which just make you want to dance. *inserts dance song* Whether your music taste is Pop,folk, rock,R&B,Dance, alternative, country, reggae, metal and classical (sorry if I missed any) or a mixture of these which for me it is as you could say I’m a mongrel in the music genres I like as I like a bit of everything, just make sure you’re proud of what you listen to and no one makes you feel bad about it.Musics a unique thing as not everyone likes exactly the same bands and songs. So be individuals and proud! *plays the song ‘Born this way’*

Optimism and introductions

It’s a new year and with every new year brings a sense of optimism and hope,as well as resolutions.Even if not all of our resolutions last (but if yours do then well done and ignore us lazy people!)the hope and optimism of a new year should. Not only should we get this burst of optimism at the beginning of the year but everyday when we wake up throughout the year.I personally think it’s a healthier way to live our life’s and reach our full potential in whatever we decide to do in the future.
Finally I just want to say welcome to my blog it was one of my goals this year to start one and hopefully I’ve started of well 🙂
